...and your little dog too

Sometime back while walking down R Street I encountered a little white dog off a leash. I wonder if it is the same dog that has been menacing students as reported yesterday on the listservs.
This morning, around 8am, one of the staff at Scott Montgomery ES informed me that one of her students, while coming to school, was chased by a small long-haired white dog. I alerted 911. I was in class and apparently out of cell phone range in the school when MPD responded, so I didn't speak to the officer immediately. Around 9am, I was told by the officer in a scout car positioned at 5th and O St that she responded and drove around the block looking for the dog and then went back to her fixed post.
I spoke to other students this morning and was informed by several of them that this particular off leash dog is a constant repeated. Since there are many young students who might potentially feel threatened by such an experience.

Keep your puppies leashed.

While I'm no fan of children, a dog off a leash regularly menacing the innocents means only one thing:

The white coat guarantees a lighter meat color, similar to chicken (best with white wine). I'm thinking bbq sauce instead of my usual marinade.

Why aren't leash laws enforced in this city?
Mary Cheh has proposed a new law to protect wildlife, and I have no problem with that, but it bugs me that we can't get enforcement of common sense laws like dogs on a leash, and littering.

PS: Oh yeah and what about a law against loitering.

According to PSA 308 Lt Micah Pate:

I spoke with the officer who responded. When she arrived on the scene there was no dog or children in the area. The officer canvassed the area and spoke with the crossing guard on 5th Street. The crossing guard advised that she sees the dog frequently, and the dog is rather small white dog that the children normally play with or harass I believe that someone lets their dog out in the morning and the dog has found away out of the yard. The day work officers will be canvassing the area for the dog during the morning time to attempt to identify the owner to prevent this from happening in the future.

My German Shepherd has lost some weight ... this sounds like a two birds with one stone situation here.

when you see the dog, if you run first, then the dog will chase you, so be calm and walk slowly, then safe.

when I was young, I've been chased by dog for several times, and the feeling is so terrible.
